Having a hard time brushing your dog’s teeth?
Brushing our dog’s teeth is not an easy task! Usually, if you own a very small dog and have it groomed every month or so, the groomer will do the job for you. But if you have a larger dog, and don’t take them to a groomer very often, it is a very good thing to brush the teeth yourself.
Here are a few tips to help you do it :
1.
Start at a very young age
The first time I took my Golden Retriever to the groomer for a bath, the lady looked at her teeth and even though they were very clean, she brushed them, and told me it was tohelp the dog get used to the toothbrush. I think this is a very clever move! If you start early and do it regularly, your dog won’t mind at all.
2.
Buy a good quality dog toothpaste : it is made specifically for them, and your dog is more likely to enjoy the taste.
3.
Try to make it fun, not punitive. Don’t restrain your dog too much, and give a treat at the end.
If you are looking for a good toothbrush that is not too expensive, I have tried one that is pretty interesting because it brushed both sides of the teeth at the same time. This way, it takes less time and it massages the gums as well, which is good. It is called the Triple•Pet Toothbrush. You can buy it for only 5.60$.
